Spinal ligament instability (laxity / AOMSI) is a common injury that often times goes undiagnosed in patients

after a motor vehicle crash or other trauma.

While traditional x-rays and MRI's provide valuable snapshots of the spine, they often miss this instability injury and spinal pathology.

The Vertebral Motion Analysis (VMA®) goes beyond static images, offering a dynamic view of the spine in motion
providing a greater opportunity of detecting this objective biomarker.

The VMA reveals spinal injuries and instabilities that might be invisible on a standard X-ray or MRI. Here's why:

  • Limitations of X-Rays: Flexion-extension x-rays are a common method, however it's essentially a "snapshot in time" which means they can miss a significant amount of spinal instabilities in-between views.

  • MRI's are Static: Similar to x-rays, MRIs are static, capturing only a single point in time. Most MRI evaluations are not capable of identifying this injury because of the lack of active spinal motion.

Uncover Hidden Instability
Our advanced system reveals instability through movement analysis.

Accuracy for Spine Care

This leads to precise diagnoses for treatment procedures and faster recovery.

Precise Diagnosis. Optimal Treatment.

Pinpointing the root cause improves clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.

Unleash the Power of Precise Spine Analysis

Our advanced imaging goes beyond static pictures

  • Spinal Analysis: Measures angulation, translation and disc height of the cervical and lumbar spine.

  • Controlled Movement: Patented equipment reliably and accurately captures flexion/extension.

  • Powered Precision: Unmatched accuracy in identifying spinal instability.

  • Objective Results: Critical biomarker and value driver in Personal Injury cases.

  • Quantitative Reports: Detailed measurements of the spine within .5 mm.

  • FDA-Cleared: Safe and reliable technology.

  • "Spinal Movie": Watch the spine move in real-time.

  • Controlled Motion: bolstered and guided motion improves sensitivity and maintains specificity (Davis, IJSS, 2015)

  • Reduced Radiation Setting: Pulsed fluoro (8 frames per second) proven accurate for repeatability (Yeager, Spine J, 2014)

  • Less Total Radiation: 25% less radiation compared to a 4-view flexion/extension x-ray series (Mellor, Radiography, 2014)

  • Includes Classic Flexion/Extension: for comparison and calculation.

  • Stabilization & Detailed Views: Isolates individual vertebral levels to get both quantitative and visual information.

  • Quantified Output: Report of spinal motion, repeatable, reliable and independent.

  • Data: Spine Journal 2013 Runner-Up Paper of the Year.
